What is A Big Bang?
A Big Bang is a collaborative creative event between artists and writers, and takes place over the span of a few months. Writers create a piece of fanwork that will be accompanied by a piece of art by a fanartist. Big Bang challenges are usually catered for longer fics (50k+ words) but since duck fandom is a LOT of people's first fandom, and in the spirit of accessibility, as well as encouraging beginners to participate, our minimum fic length is much shorter at 2k.
Over the course of a few months, we write our fics and create our illustrations for said fics, and at the end they are all posted together in a short amount of time as a collection, thus the "Big Bang" title, as it is a big BURST of fanwork!!
How does it Work?
In filling out the sign up form, writers give a quick summary of their story idea, as well as a description, such as what characters it is centered around, if it is about a ship, what ship, and if there are potential warnings, etc.
Fic concepts are all posted anonymously to a google doc, and artists will select the pieces they are most interested in working on. Then, artists will be matched up with writers as best we can.
You will have several months with your partner to create a piece of fanwork (with occasional check-ins), and at the end we will all post together to a collection and possibly create a Zine PDF as well!

Rules & Safety
Must be 13 years old or older to participate This is a SFW big bang! While NSFW writers and artists are welcome to join, we request that your piece for the big bang be safe for work. Any genre is welcome - your fics can be gen, ship, or AU! Just please tag appropriately, including content warnings. Archive of Our Own has content warnings as well, and we encourage you to use them liberally, especially if your fic has dark or potentially triggering content.Ship restrictions: We will not accept ships that involve a character who is an adult shipped with a child, or blood-related characters.Crossovers are allowed, however we request that your crossover stay within Disney Duck Universe (such as PKNA or Darkwing Duck) and/or Disney Afternoon (such as Goof Troop). OCs are allowed if they are not the main character of your fic. They can be supporting cast or side characters, but we would prefer if your fic be centered around the DuckTales cast!We have a ZERO TOLERANCE harassment policy. Harassing any participant for any reason at all, especially over the content of their fan work, will result in your expulsion from the project and being blacklisted.For the most part, we will try to only pair minors with other minors, and adults with other adults. This is for the safety of everyone involved in the project! Communication is key! If you have an issue, please contact the moderators. Frequently Asked Questions
What Are the Guidelines?
We request that fics be a minimum of 2k words once completed, and artists provide at least 1 piece to accompany the fic. (Exceptions to this include comics, videos, or other fanwork that do not fit the format and can be discussed case by case!)
What's anonymous, and why?
We ask that you keep your fic ideas and your art selections secret until after assignments are completed! Fic concepts and artists are listed anonymously during selection so people don't favor popular artists or writers.
Where will this be Posted?
We will be creating a collection on archive of Our own for everyone to post their work to! We also hope to compile everyone's pieces into a PDF (which will be distributed for free) at the end!
Will there be a discord server?
Yes, after assignments are completed! Joining it will be completely optional.
What is the timeline like?
Sign-ups will be open March 12th-31st
Claims process begins April 2nd
1st Check in May 7th-9th
2nd Check in May 28th-30th
Final Submissions Due June 26th

If you are already an artist + writer team, you can sign up together. Please indicate on your sign up forms that you both want to work together. (Please mention each other by name/username so we can make sure we pair you together during assignments!)
